Language
Malaysia’s national language is Bahasa Malaysia (Malay) but English is widely spoken.

Other major languages used by the locals are Chinese (varies from Hokkien, Mandarin and Cantonese) and Tamil.

Climate
Be ready for the humid weather all year around, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 32 degrees Celsius in the lowlands. However, it is cooler in highland areas. Malaysia’s average annual rainfall is about 200 – 250 cm.

Do dress in clothing of breathable and light material is advised. You may need comfortable and warm garments at hilly parts of the country.

Time
The standard Malaysian time is eight hours ahead of GMT.

Dress Code
It is best to wear lightweight clothing especially for sightseeing or around town traveling.

Generally, t-shirts and shorts are acceptable. Should you plan to visit places of worship, for ladies do wear dresses with sleeves and for men, long pants is important. Some establishments too may have dress codes, so do enquire with those establishments.

 

For traveler from outside of Malaysia, the best way to reach the country is through air travel. Once you are on the grounds, the traveling within the country is quite reasonably easy, affordable and comfortable from private car-hire to the executive coaches. Air travel, air-conditioned buses and trains within the country is quite regularly scheduled.
